Exhall Man Sentenced For Hate Crime

An Exhall man has been given a 12 month community order and ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work after pleading guilty to racially aggravated common assault and a racially aggravated public order offence.

Aaron Parsons, 19, of Grant Road, admitted the offence when appearing at Warwickshire Magistrates' Court on Friday (17 May).

The incident took place on 11 November 2018 in Manse Close, Exhall. The victim of the assault, a man in his 20s, confronted a group of girls he accused of racially abusing him and his partner the week before.

A short time later the women returned with Parsons. Parsons racially abused the victim and punched him.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

PC Cheryl Smith from the North Warwickshire Harm Hub said: "There is simply no excuse for hate crime and we will not tolerate this type of behaviour.

"We will always support victims of hate crime and continue to work to prevent crimes motivated by prejudice and hate."
